As followers of Jesus our goal is to become more and more like Him in all aspects of our life. The Discipleship Pathway is designed to give a framework or categories to make that goal possible. Our belief is that, through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, if we learn to think about God the way that Jesus did, if we train to live like Jesus lived through spiritual disciplines, and do so in the context of community…we can live the kind of life that Jesus lived.
We are a community of people who are trying to live as Jesus demonstrated and taught, we hope that you will allow us to come alongside you as you walk with Jesus.
Below are some steps to help you on your way. These don’t have to be done in order and our staff are here to help!
Sunday mornings are designed around our Disipleship Pathway. Throughout the year, our teaching series will focus on one of the 3 aspects of our DP - learning, training, or community. When you make weekly church attendance a priority, you are experiencing teaching and worship that will help you grow in your faith, all while in community with others.
The next step is to attend our Discovering Calvary class. We offer this class once a month, usually during our 3rd service time slot. During the class, we explain the "who, what, where, how, and whys" of Calvary. You can ask questions about what we believe, what ministries are available, how you can get involved in outreach, and more. For many, this class is an important step to knowing if Calvary fits you.
We believe that connection and growth comes through serving. Whether that's helping out in the parking lots, serving in a kids’ class, running tech, or going on a missions trip, finding a place to serve helps you belong. Serving also allows you to use the gifts and talents that God has given you to help build up His Kingdom.
Finding your place in a small community at Calvary is so important. This can happen by joining a small group, a short-term Bible study, or serving regularly on a team. Your small group, study or team is where you find support, accountability, and community.
We have a variety of small groups and it can take a few tries to find one that works for you. We know that it can be a challenge to take that step so from time to time, we offer opportunities for those not in a small group to get plugged in.
Calvary has developed Spiritual Formation retreats that are offered throughout the year. As followers of Jesus, we are all in the process of becoming the men and women that God has created us to be. Spiritual Formation Retreats can be a pivotal experience on this journey. These retreats will provide space to get out of the hustle and bustle and get away with Jesus and other Jesus-followers. It will be a time of rest, learning, training, and community.
There will be different focuses to each retreat but they are best to be taken in order. The first is a Silence & Solitude Retreat, the following retreats are Fasting, Simplicity, and Sabbath.
UPCOMING RETREATS
November 10-12, 2023, Silence & Solitude, Hanging Rock Christian Assembly, West Lebanon, IN
January 2024, TBD, Hanging Rock Christian Assembly, West Lebanon, IN
April 2024, Silence & Solitude, Hanging Rock Christian Assembly, West Lebanon, IN
July 2024, Sabbath, Mahseh Retreat Center, Kewanna, IN
Throughout the year we send teams on one-day or one-week trips to work with our missions partners around the globe. Sometimes a team of 20+ people of all ages will head to Chicago to serve for a day and other times a team of 10 will travel to Honduras to drill a clean water well. Being a part of a missions team expands our understanding of how God is at work in other cultures and helps us become Kingdom-minded, globally aware followers of Jesus.
